Skied here for a week and had great snow.The view down across the Canterbury plains is amazing and on a clear day if you hike to the top of the mountain you can see the water on the both the east and west sides at the same time... amazing view. Get across the mountain to the virgin mile for some nice steep terrain. Travelling up the narrow winding roads to Mount Hutt it's a good idea not to stop if it is windy. People have been blown off the saddle back.

This Lotus Temple bears a remarkable resemblance to Sydney structure. Though the name has a temple to it, but it is more of a huge hall where you have to remain silent when you enter it. You can meditate, pray or simply enjoy in the 4 large pools or even enjoy the garden. Evening visiting hours are recommended. Night lighting of the lotus temple is worth watching. Besides there is also a little Audi nearby where one can enter and get a theatrical video and guide on the history and tourism of Delhi.

It's almost the same to other temples with beautiful oriental garden and landscapes but in Naritasan Shinshoji Temple it's free admission.
The temple settings are the Great Pagoda of Peace, Calligraphy Museum, Hikkonhi Monument, Literature/Haiku Monuments, Suikinkutsu ( a unique facility for the enjoyment of listening to sounds of falling water), tea ceremony room, and a pond, waterfall and fountain that create natural beauty. Another beautiful part of this temple is the Naritasan Park which was largely remodelled in 1998 with the huge garden-like park of 165,000square meters. The atmosphere changes over the four seasons from blossoming of apricot trees, cherry trees and with new green leaves in spring and changing colors during autumn season.
You will find this temple so exciting in many events especially on summer festival well-knowned as "GION MATSURI" the parade of the floats, the parade of different drums knowned as "TAIKO MATSURI". and during New Year's Day, Japanese famous entertainers and SUMO players come to greet all the visitors of the temple.
And mostly what I observed is that the connecting flight passengers could take a chance visiting Naritasan Temple because it's very near at NARITA AIRPORT (next station only) but don't forget to get a shore pass first before you exit the airport.

The Merlion. An imaginary creature with the body of a fish and the tail of a lion, it is the ultimate symbol of Singapore. Although there are five different Merlion statues located around Singapore, the best one, in my opinion, is the original statue located in Merlion Park in Marina Bay.

I loved seeing the Merlion statue at night. The statue is lighted with a golden hue and the water flows fast and free from the it's mouth. Facing the bay, it proudly stands as Singapore's fierce guardian.
